Establish design and specifications for a benchmark assembly line engine rebuild and test facility for Holt Cat to be constructed in both Longview and San Antonio, Texas. Longview consisted of integrating 100% crane assist mobility, prototype dynamometers while utilizing an existing 54,000 SF metal building in a high end industrial park while logistically concealing sound transmissions, paint booth emissions, and aesthetically blending 9 acres of gravel staging yard. Highlights include a 30,000 gal underground reservoir to stage the water used by the cooling towers to provide cooling capacity for 3 dynamometers running simultaneously. Per each integrating a conceptual fire suppression system with double redundancy in the dynamometer rooms to meet fire code without false delivery of a hood mounted deluge system when an engine backfires to avoid destruction of equipment. These include partition walls with vinyl stripping and custom cantilever doors to allow the passage of overhead cranes through conditioned and non-conditioned spaces. Lastly integrating 3 distinct crane systems being 40 ton, 20 ton, and 10 ton, with 2 ton column mount jib cranes at each column location in an existing space.
Second of 2 prototype engine rebuild and test facilities for Holt Cat. Highlights include expanding an existing rebuild facility and retrofitting/integrating the benchmark assembly line process for engine rebuild and testing to work with the City of San Antonio's code and ordinances. Combining the use of overhead crane systems and column mount jib cranes to maneuver the engines through all stages of the assembly line process. Performed complete remodel and expansion without interrupting current rebuild and test facility operations.
New equipment repair and rebuild shop with associated parts warehouse and office facilities and a second facility for equipment wash bays and paint booth. Highlights include complete closed loop reclamation system for wash bays. Including a 20 ton overhead crane with 100' span, 2 ton Gorbel crane system, and aesthetically engineering the fascia to fit with the facility location on major state highway.
New equipment and repair shop with associated parts warehouse and office / locker room facilities. Highlights include integrated wash facilities with trench drains and oil / water separator system, 20 ton overhead crane system.
New shop facilities and paint booth building, remodel of existing shop facility for parts warehouse, and expansion and remodel of existing office building for more capacity. Highlights include excessive eave height for overhead crane clearances in new shop facility and proximity to new paint booth requiring extension of exhaust stack on paint booth. Poor soil condition required massive engineering of foundations and drilled piers to support dead load of equipment and crane system. Scheduled all phases to promote smooth transitions from transferring operation from existing shop facility to new facility in order to continue the phases remodel of all existing facilities.
